These are the terms of using Dial. We have kept them in plain English, because you should not need a lawyer to understand what you are agreeing to. By using Dial, you agree to them.

What Dial is

Dial is an adaptive weight-loss coaching app. It builds a training and nutrition plan around your numbers, your equipment, and your real life, adjusts as your weeks change, and includes a built-in coach for everyday questions. It is available as a web app and a native mobile app.

You must be 18 or older to use Dial.

What Dial is not

Dial provides general fitness and nutrition guidance. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and the built-in coach is not a doctor, dietitian, or therapist. When a question is clinical, it is designed to say so and point you to a professional rather than guess.

Dial is not a treatment for eating disorders. The app has a few quiet options you can turn on: you can hide the numbers, weigh in without seeing the number, and switch off calorie-cutting suggestions, and the coach points you to professional resources when you describe a crisis. Those are settings, not care. If you have, or think you may have, an eating disorder, please work with a qualified professional, and talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise or nutrition program, especially if you have a medical condition, take medication, or are pregnant.

Early access and pricing

Dial is currently in early access, and using it is free during early access. When billing opens, membership will be offered at the founding rate shown on our site at the time you join, and we expect to offer a trial period before you are charged anything. The founding rate stays locked for as long as your membership remains active. You can cancel at any time, in the app, in a couple of taps, with no retention maze.

Early access also means the product is still being built: we may change, add, or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue Dial entirely, we will give you reasonable notice.

Your account

You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to it secure. Give us accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you believe someone else has accessed your account. Most of your health data lives only on your device, see the Privacy Policy, so keeping your device secure matters too.

Acceptable use

Dial has no feeds, profiles, or community spaces, and nothing you enter is posted anywhere. When using Dial, you agree not to:

• Attempt to break, probe, or overload the service, or access other people's data
• Use Dial for anything unlawful, or impersonate another person
• Copy, resell, or redistribute the app's software or programming content

We may suspend accounts that break these rules. Where practical we will warn you first.

Ending things

You can stop using Dial and delete your account at any time, from within the app or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. If we terminate your account without cause during a paid period, we will refund the unused portion.

Our content, your content

Dial, its software, design, and programming content, belongs to us and our licensors. There is nothing to post in Dial, so we host no content of yours: your plan, your logs, and your journal stay on your device and stay yours. See the Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers and limits

Dial is provided "as is." We work hard to make it reliable and useful, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or right for your specific situation, and we make no warranties beyond those the law requires. Plans and coaching are general guidance built from the information you provide, results vary, and no outcome is guaranteed.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of Dial is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or $50 if you have paid nothing), and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. If a dispute comes up, talk to us first, most things can be sorted out with an email.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Dial after that means you accept the updated terms.
